Inspections Procedures
Maintaining
a healthy system will insure a positive
result
Monitor the MTA
As you move around the home. NO need to remove the MTA’s center, unless
doing a annual check, until termites attack and an alert is detected. If an alert
is found by the home owner inform them to contact your office for treatment without distirbing the area.
Watch for a gradual
drop of the color as termites start to feed on the CTA you will notice the color dropping away, this is drop down detection.
The color will disappear over time as the food source is consumed. Once the color has dropped away and is one inch or more down then you have a termite infestation in the
area. Refer to the treatment section.
Monitor the CTA
The
CTA is monitored the same as the MTA in all applications, MTA, Retrofit, or Concrete install.
Monitor the ITA
The ITA is based on the same princible as the CTA the
color will drop away slowly as termites consume the food source.
Annual out of ground Inspection
Maintaining a healthy alert system will result in positive results. Angel Leigh Pest Control Products recommends pull the CTA out of the holding device
if it is MTA, or Retrofitted baitsation to insure the device has not been damaged.
To
remove pull straight up on the CTA and slide it out of the holder, using caution not to catch the wood plug on anything that
could cause it to be pulled loose. Some type of small flat blade maybe needed
to remove the CTA. Dirt and other debris may cause them to stick.
While
the CTA is out look for water damage in the plastic tube, excessive decay to the food source that would not support termite
feeding, broken clear cap that would allow water to enter the alert, a missing wood plug.
These are not acceptable alerts and will need replaced. Small amounts
of mold or a damp food source are ideal conditions as termites love these conditions.
If inspecting a retrofitted baitstation insure that the CTA is still making ground contact with the wood plug on the
bottom of the CTA. This will insure proper channels for the termites to invade
the alert.
